Our Story
My name is Ashley, and I’m the heart behind The Mustard Seed Mercantile.
Years ago, when I was a single mom, God quietly placed a dream on my heart. At the time, I had no idea what He was preparing me for—I only knew I wanted to create something that made women feel seen, loved, and beautiful.
Life, however, had a different timeline.
After battling cancer and enduring multiple surgeries, my body changed in ways I never expected. I went from small… to curvy… back to small again. My body carried scars, stretch marks, and reminders of every battle I’d fought.
For a long time, I let those changes define how I saw myself.
I fell into some of the deepest body-image struggles of my life, constantly criticizing the very body that had fought so hard to keep me alive.
Then one day, I looked at my daughter.
As a girl mom, I realized she was watching how I spoke about myself. If I couldn’t love the woman God created me to be, how could I teach her to love the beautiful girl God created her to be?
That’s when everything changed.
I realized my body wasn’t damaged.
It wasn’t weak.
It wasn’t something to hide.
It was a testimony.
Every scar tells a story of survival.
Every stretch mark reminds me of seasons of growth.
Every imperfection is evidence of God’s faithfulness.
We were created in His image, and that image is beautiful.
When the Dream Became Real
The Mercantile truly came to life after one of the hardest seasons our family has ever faced.
Last September, what was supposed to be surgery turned into a life-threatening emergency. Surgical complications left me on a ventilator in the ICU fighting for my life.
When I finally came home, my body had changed more than ever before.
But so had my heart.
During that season, I witnessed something I’ll never forget.
I watched our community become the hands and feet of Jesus.
People prayed for us.
People fed our family.
People checked on us.
People loved us when we couldn’t stand on our own.
Their kindness changed me forever.
It became clear that this dream wasn’t simply about opening a boutique.
It was about creating something that gives back.
Something that reminds people they’re loved.
Something that pours into the very communities that pour into others.
Our Mission
The Mustard Seed Mercantile exists for so much more than selling beautiful things.
We want every woman, every little girl, every baby, and every family to know they are worthy, beautiful, confident, loved, and created with purpose.
Every order you place helps us move closer to that mission.
The Blessing Basket
One of our favorite ways we’ll give back is through our monthly Blessing Basket.
Each month, customers who spend $100 or more (before tax and shipping) will automatically be entered into a drawing. On the first Monday of the following month, one winner will receive a basket filled with boutique favorites, handmade goods, products from local businesses, and other special surprises.
It’s our small way of saying thank you while supporting other small businesses and spreading kindness throughout our community.
Barcode Blessings
As we grow, you’ll also see us sharing Barcode Blessings.
When you help us reach store milestones—whether that’s follower goals, sales goals, or exciting business achievements—we’ll celebrate by giving back through surprise gift cards, coffee runs, shopping blessings, and random acts of kindness for our amazing customers and community.
Because every milestone belongs to all of us.
The Big Dream
Our vision reaches far beyond an online boutique.
One day, we dream of opening a storefront where people can slow down, gather, and feel at home.
We envision a Mercantile filled with:

• Home décor and gifts
• Antiques and vintage treasures
• Faith-inspired books and Bible study resources
• Baby and children’s clothing and gifts
• Farm-to-table fresh market items
• Locally made products
• A cozy bakery
• A play area where little ones can laugh while parents shop and visit

We want to create a place where community happens.
Giving Back Even More
One dream especially close to our hearts is creating a Trade-In Program.
Bring us gently loved clothing or home décor, and we’ll donate those items to local women’s and children’s shelters.
